The assignment was very open-ended. We started by observing one object: I chose the vinyl record. After studying my object further, I realized that what fascinated me the most was the way the sound was physically engraved into the record itself. To continue exploring sound, I hosted an event and conducted experiments about sound and communication. The experiments ranged from formal to interpretive explorations. I made a workbook and website, where new experiments were posted daily. I used the research I gathered to create a publication, recapping it all. Instructor — Philip DiBello
